Pre-Surgical Bariatric Psychological Evaluation

Our evaluations are comprehensive to ensure we completely assess all aspects to ensure a thorough medical clearance. The evaluation will include a thorough clinical interview, standardized testing, and rating scales. We focus on body dissatisfaction, anxiety, depression, drug and alcohol dependence, and the possible presence of eating disorders. It is important to understand that a history of mental health illness does not immediately preclude someone from bariatric surgery. Many individuals with a history of/or current anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, as well as many other mental health illnesses go on to have successful surgery. The main concern is whether the issue has been successfully treated or that it is currently being treated.
